I am looking for a light foldable bike to take on public transport and
cycle 10 blocks to and from work. Regular bikes are too cumbersome to

Adult training wheels30 Jan 2006 17:15 GMT20
My wife is learning to ride a bike, without much success.  My LBS is at odds
with itself on whether an adult learner benefits from training wheels.  One
salesperson tried to sell us a single speed cruiser with training wheels.
Another said the cruiser handlebars had too much ...
Four Cyclists Killed in Wales30 Jan 2006 16:56 GMT91
Recently, a car skidded on ice in Wales and took out an entire
group of 12 cyclists, who were traveling the other direction.  Four were
killed and the other 8 were taken to a hospital.
This make me even more aware of the dangers for bike riders on the

The weather, or lack of it30 Jan 2006 15:58 GMT5
Just saw the coverage of the arena collapse in Poland, caused by snow
build-up on the roof.
Meanwhile, we had temperatures here in Toronto that were higher than
some I saw while bike touring last August (somewhat north of here.)
Seat question30 Jan 2006 04:49 GMT13
I'm looking for a good seat for my mountainbike. I particularly want a
comfortable seat for touring as I do moderate to long distances in a day.
Anyone tried the Brooks Champion flyer or have any recommendations?  I am
new to this site so apologies if this has been asked a ...

SEVEN GOATHEADS in one+ day!29 Jan 2006 19:58 GMT8
Yesterday I rode the road bike back on the cement path from the LBS,
2.2 miles away.  On the way back I picked up two goatheads by the
underpass, but was able to get them out with no leaks.
Today I rode it back for a minor adjustment, and picked up three, one
senior comeback cyclist question29 Jan 2006 18:59 GMT22
I have some relatives who are interested in cycling, but they are aged
79 and 76, respectively.  I mentioned threewheelers to them and got
soeme serious objections to the idea of a tricycle.
I thought they might be a little late to be returning to cycling to

Rant: What is it about PT cruiser drivers?29 Jan 2006 16:44 GMT41
On Thrusday on my ride work, as I was passing what is probably the most
dangerous part of my ride - namely the exit of the doughnut shop
drive-through onto the main road - I was cut off by a middle-aged lady in
a PT cruiser exiting the lot.  She saw me, was in fact looking right at
Customs and Duties?29 Jan 2006 00:52 GMT2
Hi, All:
Just wondering -- I'm getting charged $200 in import taxes for the
SMGTe.  Would it have been any different if I ordered the thing myself
from HP Velotechnik direct, or gone to Germany to pick it up and schlep
A different world, 5 blocks away28 Jan 2006 00:56 GMT19
I typically turn my evening 3.6 mile commute home to a 12 mile training
ride by going around the circumference of Manhattan instead of straight
through. Manhattan comes to a point at the bottom, the Battery, and from
there uptown routes radiate.  When it's light out at night, I ...
Oh, Man!!28 Jan 2006 00:51 GMT5
If anyone suggests riding in the icy weather, DON'T DO IT!!
I thought there were no more puddles left because it had been so
warm and dry the day before so I was out at night riding cautiously
with my hybrid and knobby tires.  Around the back of a building,
