Why does my small ring feel so big in the cold?30 Nov 2004 14:36 GMT38

density of the air...

Downhill/Freeride in New Zealand26 Nov 2004 02:36 GMT1
My family is traveling to New Zealand over the Christmas holidays.  My
sons 15 and 19 are serious downhillers (Younger one was Colorado Junior
regional champ last year).  We are trying to find any downhill or
freeride sites in New Zealand, preferably on the South Island.  Even

Bike Rentals on Oahu23 Nov 2004 09:45 GMT6
Can anyone supply me the names/addresses of reputable bike rental
places in Honolulu?  I would prefer to rent a road bike if that's
possible.
Hawaii Maui's Haleakala22 Nov 2004 23:42 GMT47
Anyone have any info on this climb of 36 miles up to 10,000 elevation?  There
seems to be tour rides going down but not up.  I guess its for the very fit
cyclists.  I wanted to get info on this before I try this one.  So far I
learned that its a two lane highway with no bike lanes.  ...

Mountain riding and rim life20 Nov 2004 22:20 GMT7
I was surprised to see the first replacement set of rims I had to buy
for my bike last only a year and a half (after the original ones that
came with it lasted ten years).
My original set were Ritchey Vantage (on a Bridgestone MTB). When a
54th Birthday Ride17 Nov 2004 02:09 GMT11
Maggie's recent musing on her age made me appreciate my ride yesterday,
my 54th birthday.
It was my turn to lead my club's Sunday morning ride from Miccosukee,
FL to Thomasville, GA.  I went out at 5:30 a.m. to get the paper. The

Cycle tourists:
What is the most enjoyable cycling trip you have ever done, where was

Transamerica light touring14 Nov 2004 23:17 GMT4
I'm hoping to do a transamerica ride in the next couple of years.  I'm
currently leaning towards the Adventure Cycling northern tier route.
However, I'm not big on camping and would prefer to travel light and
stay in motels.  An Adventure Cycling FAQ claims that with careful
Biker killed by Pick up12 Nov 2004 18:52 GMT19
Last Friday a bike rider was hit and killed by a pickup truck on a road
our club rides almost every week. Not many details are known yet but the
rider was a very experienced rider and rode often.
Here is a message from one of our club leaders. To me this is just
Nevada11 Nov 2004 00:28 GMT4
Just got the Adventure Cycling map from Fallon, NV to Cedar City, UT and
the route goes over US 50 to cross Nevada. There are three places on the
