Stack Height31 Oct 2006 20:33 GMT2
I need to buy a new headset for my MTB. (older style threaded 1 inch)  The
retailers on the web refer to 'stack height'. I'm guessing this relates to
how much of the fork stem you have available for the headset in question but
what exactly does the dimension refer to?  What do I ...

Presta adapters31 Oct 2006 17:09 GMT17
NE one heard of adapters if you use  presta tubes.  When I got my new GT MTB
they said I had to use adapters.  They had none so now I have schrader
again.  What is the deal really.  My old MTB took them but he said they can
be damaged easily.
Knowledgeable battery advice needed31 Oct 2006 17:07 GMT4
OK, all you EE types . . .
My headlights short-cicuited last week.  After the lamps suddenly died,
I rode for about 5 minutes before noticing that the wiring was hot, and
I unplugged the battery.  The wiring in the lamp heads is cooked, but

were mostly red but you get the picture?)  So far I have identified :

How do you touch up a bike frame that has chips out of the paint.  Aluminum
frame.
What's your favourite tech task?31 Oct 2006 01:17 GMT44
I just love building wheels.  Taking a hub, rim, and spokes and building
up a wheel from scratch is fun.  Arranging the spokes in the pattern and
tightening them all up, and ending up with a true wheel that lasts for
years is very satisfying!

Chorus Brake Spring?30 Oct 2006 14:42 GMT2
I just mounted a chorus rear brake and it appears to have a weaker spring
than the shimano brakes I am more accustomed to. The brake almost
feels/looks like there is drag in the cable housing, which there isn't. The
brake was purchased used, it appeared clean but I lubed it w/ no ...
Compound To Use on Phil BB Cup Threads?30 Oct 2006 03:33 GMT6

Mavic rim tick-tick-tick30 Oct 2006 01:09 GMT33
I know from this NG that this is not uncommon but what is the best fix?
It is driving me nuts.
Steady tick----tick----tick in the rear when pedaling or coasting.
Sometimes a tick-rick---tick-rick---tick-rick. If I move my weight
why ankling doesn't work30 Oct 2006 00:20 GMT9
Using ankles to help push the pedals adds more muscles, so how could that be
bad? Isn't the worst that could happen that the ankle muscles would steal
some oxygen pressure from other muscles, and the net result would just be a
"no gain"?
