| Dumb wheel physics question | 31 Mar 2007 23:32 GMT | 46 |
A friend was looking at the current thread about standing-start downhill coasting tests. He asked me whether the mass of the tires would make a difference. I cleverly replied, "Huh?"

| Ceramic ISIS bearings. | 31 Mar 2007 19:43 GMT | 17 |
Since ISIS bottom brackets suffer from durability problems of the bearings due to their small size, would harder, more durable ceramic bearings be the cure? A company called Token makes ISIS ceramic bearings.

| Ultegra 6500 vs. 6600 crank & BB | 31 Mar 2007 14:40 GMT | 2 |
It's time for me to replace my current Ultegra 6500 crank set and bottom bracket. I have been using this setup for several years now and was thinking of going to the new series Ultegra 6600 set. I have checked the weights and do not see much difference in that area. Is

I am looking for a small (not frame) pump for the road bike. I want one that will mount under a water bottle cage. It looks like my choices are Zefal Double Shot and a few Topeak models. Anyone want to chime in? TIA

| Mirage 9 speed levers | 31 Mar 2007 14:23 GMT | 1 |
I have 1999 Campy Mirage 9 speed levers on my bike. I am considering buying a new set of 2006 Mirage 9 speed levers as a backup. I see that the 2006 levers have the black plastic paddles, but other than that, are the levers the same in terms of parts and function?

| Any experience with Specialized Mondo Pro tire? | 31 Mar 2007 06:22 GMT | 2 |
Can any one speak about performance of the Specialized Mondo Pro 622 x 25? Cornering and ride in particular. I was surprised to see a slick tire that is not an Avocet. The SMP is totally slick; no file pattern even.

| Sealing flakes in aluminum frame paint | 31 Mar 2007 00:22 GMT | 5 |
Is there a cheap method for sealing areas of paint that have flaked off on an aluminum frame? I own an 87/88 Trek 1500 road bike and after cleaning the fraime this morning discovered areas where the paint has flaked off exposing upwards to 1.5 inch square. The bike

| Shimano 10-speed durability? | 30 Mar 2007 23:17 GMT | 8 |
Now that Shimano 7800 kit has been out in the market for, what, 3-4 years at this point, I'm wondering what the consensus is as far as the durability of the consumables (rings, chains, cassettes) and the DA shifters. Any difference when compared with DA 7700?

| What Kind Of Tube in My Tublar Tires? | 30 Mar 2007 21:02 GMT | 10 |
Back in the old days (1970-80) when I used tubular tires, they all seemed to have latex tubes inside. This was supposed to be more puncture resistant but they tended to loose air pressure overnight (or so). I have some NOS tubular tires I wish to sell and have been asked if the

| RBT opinions on fancy-spoked wheels? | 30 Mar 2007 20:12 GMT | 28 |
No. Not bladed spokes or low spoke wheels. I mean wheels with fancy spoke patterns like crow's foot, etc. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/peterkolk/DSCF0666.jpg Seems like there could be issues, but I know jack about wheel building.

| 12 volt horn? | 30 Mar 2007 18:53 GMT | 14 |
My touring bike has a 12V power system, powered by a dozen C-cell alkaline batteries. So I decided to add a car horn. But to my dismay the car horn pulls 4 amps, more than my battery pack can handle, the horn will not even go beep. I guess alkalines have too high of an
