Remind me again, how does one get a bolt out of the rear drop when it's been
seized for a number of years?
Thanks
Manchester Love Your Bike Commute, 30th March31 Mar 2007 20:37 GMT2
This fell into my mailbox and, as there're a fair few people from
Manchester here, I thought this'd be a good place to foward it to.  I'll
be starting at Withington Library on a silver Trek road bike.

Cycle loan scheme31 Mar 2007 20:10 GMT4
On the local idiot box news this morning. Caught it briefly. I *think* it
was over in Bletchley. A cycle loan scheme where old bikes are being
refurbished and being made available to members of the community on a
'library book loan' type system where they can borrow bikes, for ...
Cycling tests and obstacle courses31 Mar 2007 14:54 GMT37
The BBC has an article about the return of the cycling test to schools:-
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6494309.stm
Nice to see they've rolled out the photo of a cyclist attempting to
negotiate an obstacle course again!
Couple of hours pootle31 Mar 2007 13:38 GMT1
Just come back from a sniff under a couple of hours pootle on LuigiMkII.
Lovely pootle, but a bit of a headwind on some legs of the loop I did.
Badger count: 2 one of which was in a state of advanced decay. Same with the
deer count of 2. Lost count of the number of dead rats, ...
Is there bike snobbery?30 Mar 2007 20:28 GMT516
In short. Gave up ciggies. Put on weight. Bought bike secondhand
£25.00. Liked it. Thought I'd join a club for social/rides/company.
Saw bloke who works in cycle store, told him I joined club. He said
did my bike have nuts holding the rear wheel on. Answer Yes. Well it's
Wiggle - watch out!30 Mar 2007 19:28 GMT26
This has been mentioned before, but I thought I might mention...bought some
lube from Wiggle using my cc - the very next day my details were  to pay
£245-odd to DHL. Coincidence? Hmmm. Bloody nuisance anyway, that's for sure.
Dangerous driving30 Mar 2007 10:11 GMT25
There's a story on the BBC news website of how a driver who cut a corner is
in court chargd with death by dangerous driving after he hit a car doing so
and killed a 4 year old.
Does that imply that anyone cutting a corner is driving dangerously (in a
Puncture repair patches30 Mar 2007 00:40 GMT26
I'm trying to get hold of some strips of puncture repair patches.  I've got
loads of glue, chalk and sandpaper but running low on patches.
The LBS used to sell a strip of 8 for 80p and they were decent ones too but
have stopped doing them in favour of self adhesive slime filled ...
Nexus hub or not?29 Mar 2007 20:27 GMT21
A new Edinburgh bike shop has opened in manchester and they're
offering 20% off bikes for a few weeks. I need a new one but am not
too knowlegable about them.
I have a mountain bike that with a bit of work could be fairly decent
Dumb de-railer refitting question29 Mar 2007 01:39 GMT12
My bike, is a £100 cheapo from Decathlon (as I may have mentioned
before, sorry). But, I really haven't got the hang of the 21-speed
de-railer(!) gears - I sort of stall whenever changing down whilst
going up a hill - and would prefer something more like an old 7 speed
Towpath Condition28 Mar 2007 23:25 GMT4
Has anyone within the last 12 months riden any part of the Leeds Liverpool
Canal Towpath between Liverpool and Accrington.
If so are you able to give me some idea of the condition of the towpath at
any point so I can try to work out where it is good and where it is poor.
Lorries28 Mar 2007 21:26 GMT13
Apologies if this has been posted already:
http://www.thecnj.co.uk/islington/032307/news032307_02.html
"Twenty-one cyclists have been killed in accidents with lorries in London
between January 1999 and 2004 – the majority (85 per cent) were women. A
Suffolk28 Mar 2007 17:04 GMT23
Travelling between Sudbury and Clare, and back, this morning, haven't seen
so many cyclists since last years TdF on telly.  All age groups, all sorts
of bikes, including some 69 quid specials, and a rather tasty three wheel
bent. Does anyone know what it was in aid of, a ...
Rides in Licolnshire28 Mar 2007 16:32 GMT8
Having a long weekend near Louth soon, with a mixed ability group. Any
suggestions for rides around 40 miles, with a good pub stop? Any good tea
shops/bacon sandwich stops?
Thanks.
